Lynn unions, IUE-CWA Local 201 and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 509 backed benefits for same-sex partners. Initially the IBEW insisted that benefits were only for heterosexuals. North Shore Labor Council President Jeff Crosby states that no other union is blocking same-sex couples from health and pension benefits.
